My name is Tyler Rhodes. I call Austin, Texas home and I write software for a living.
Interests
Tech-wise, I’m interested in topics across the board. Since my day job is working on product-based software, in my free time I like to go deep into bare-metal code (think writing JPEG decoder in C, or writing homebrew directly for Nintendo 64).
More recently, I’ve been trying to get into game development using the fantastic Godot Engine.
On occasion, I have to scratch an itch for devops-related projects. I run a homelab at my house using Proxmox and ansible. Mostly just for playing around with the newest hotness (nix, kubernetes, etc), and mostly just to keep me occupied.
Outside of tech, I love playing guitar (I’ll let you guess one of my favorite bands), biking, hiking and hanging out with my wife and son.
Career
TODO but for cliff notes, see my linkedin.
School
I got a degree in Computer Science at the University of Texas at Austin in 2012. I have used approximately 5 things from my degree in my professional career, 3 of which were used on technical interviews, of which 2 are graph-related.
